Communications with Dr. Da'ryan

While in transit to the party's next destination, Artemis thinks of another question that the Defel doctor might be able to help him with. He contacts Dr. Da'ryan on the secure, personal line via his own commlink and encrypts his location.

OOC: We'll assume you contact him discreetly after you get to your next location as sending and receiving of comms can't occur during hyperspace travel. Just for future reference.

You are greeted by a half awake Dr. Da'ryan with disheveled fur and notice that his cyber eye is obviously a removable model. The time stamp on his end reads 3am Aretak standard time.

"Huh?....Dr. Vox, is everything alright?"

He lets out a drawn out yawn that shows off a muzzle filled with sharp teeth.

[OOC: Oh >_> Yeah, that make sense. I'll add that to my minuscule yet growing lore of Star Wars]

"Oh," Artemis breathes, feeling rather guilty upon noticing the time. "I'm so sorry, I didn't realize how early it would be." He pauses briefly and adjusts his glasses. "I wanted to ask you about the construction of your cybernetic eye. I'm trying to build something like it for a blind Defel that I know, but I've run into a snag. I can try to contact you later if you wish, so you can get some sleep."

"It's quite alright Dr. Vox, as a professional in the medical field I'm used to being up at all hours for emergencies. As for my eye...."

He reaches off screen to grab his eye of a nightstand and fumbles with it for a few minutes to reconnect it.

"...there that's better," he mumbles to himself as both eyes blink and readjust to the veiwscreen. "It was made for me by a specialist who managed to make it off Af'el before they issued the quarantine. A Defel optical engineer by the name of Ingus Nefar. He was here on Aretak for a few months some time ago, but I understand he moved on in search of others in need of his skill. I'm afraid there's not much I can tell you about it beyond that, it's certainly a feat of engineering I wish we could replicate here. My understanding from Mr. Nefar is that each one must be specially made to the user given our unique vision properties. Took him almost two weeks to make this after examining me."

Artemis groans and smooths one hand tiredly behind his glasses and over his closed eyes. "Nothing is ever easy, is it?" he sighs. "I've been working on constructing a cybernetic eye for about a month with no real luck. I have a model that should work, but I can't figure out how to actually connect it optically." Artemis lowers his fingers and peers hopefully at Dr. Da'ryan. "I don't suppose you remember what measurements Ignus Nefar took, or even how I could contact Nefar himself?"

The old Defel gives a sigh himself.

"I've heard it said that nothing worthwhile ever is. I'm afraid Ignus' methods are his own to keep. As I said he is an optical engineer, and a damn fine one at that. He wore the most peculiar goggles as he scanned me, said they would record all the data he needed. His own design, no doubt. He did not leave any info to contact him, though I suspect if you look into other planets with large Defel populations you'll run into him eventually."

"All right," Artemis replies after a long pause. "I'll try to find him. Thank you for your help, Dr. Da'ryan, and I'll inform you if I get any further on this project. To say that 'it would be nice if more people could make these things' is an understatement."
